So Glad To Be Gone

Here little man is at 6 o clock in the morning in his hospital gown just about to get stuck over and over trying to get an i.v. in.

Eventually they stopped sticking and decided to mask him down and then put one in. He was a trooper though. Cried and cried and as soon as Mama picked him up he stopped.
Here he is in recovery.  You can see his color isn't great and he was a little irritable, but with some extra TLC he would fall asleep on our chests.
A very BIG thank you to "Nana Kimmie" for making the trip with us. Dave stayed home to take care of the older two boys so he could be gone from the company for Paxtons open heart surgery.  I never had to lift a finger. Kimmie just let me enjoy my man. She got me my diet cokes, food, let me sleep and loved on our baby boy as if he were her own and that above all is all we can ask for. We love you.

Another thank you goes out to "Auntie Eyeween". Eileen is Jackson's mom and my bff. She traded cars with me and became a mini van mom for a few days. She picked my boys up from school half days so they could continue the same schedule they are used to when I am home. I am pretty sure they had the best time ever since all they do now is ask to go to "Jacks house!" Actually they don't ask, they demand.  Knowing they were happy meant more than you will ever know E!

In a matter of days, we went from this...

To this!
(For an HLHS he is totally doing what his onesie says! The doctors and nurses could not get over how big he is.)

You just never get past how closely he clings to this life and every time he goes in for surgery it is scary reminder.  Waiting 2 1/2 hours for word he was ok when I was told it would only be two was so insanely paralyzing I can't even begin to tell you.  Every possible thing was running through my mind. Then to see the doctor walk through and tell me he's ok was the most precious gift ever! Paxton continues to amaze me with his strength. He is the happiest baby I have ever known. I continue to learn from him daily and relish every single God given moment that I am blessed to have with him.

Believe it or not I have not missed one night of praying for you guys by name. I pray that God will wrap his big wonderful arms around Paxton and all of the DRs that will be working on him. I pray that God will bless you all and provide the DRs with the wisdom and clarity that only God can provide when they work on Paxton. I promise you all will continue to be in my prayers throughout this time. You guys still provide Polly and I with the greatest inspiration.

Your Friend in Arkansas,
Matthew

Paralyzing isn't even a good enough word. Oh how I do know what you were going through. My son came out four hours later than they had quoted due to a failed laparoscopy. that led them to open him up for general surgery anyway. I have never hugged a Doctor so hard when he came out and said he was fine. Prayer and faith is all we have during those terrifying times.
I will continue to pray for your little man. What a love he is.
