God Is Good

Paxton is out of surgery and resting in recovery. His heart cath went well. The doctor said there is some narrowing of his shunt, but nothing that is immediate. He feels his heart is strong enough to handle the next open heart surgery which will be in approximatly 2 to 3 weeks.  Recovery for the cath is much easier than for the open heart, obviously.  He is in and out of sleep and enjoying extras cuddles.  He has already eaten 5 ounces of formula and even cracked a smile or two.  Mostly he just enjoys looking at the oxygen monitor light wrapped around his thumb and talking to it in between naps.  The nurses are amazed at how big he is and keep telling us how amazing he looks for an HLHS baby.  I am proud and honored to be Paxton's mommy. Time and again he shows me what strength, courage and never giving up means.  Between now and his Glenn ( the next heart sx) we will continue to love him and pray that he sails through that just as he has sailed through everything thus far. Thank you all for your prayers and comments. Please know how very much they mean to us. I see how he has touched so many lives in his 5 months here. I know he is continuing to his purpose here on this Earth and I am grateful more than words will ever be able to describe that once again I get to take him home and love him to pieces.
I will continue to keep you updated on our little fighters progress as we head into the next few weeks!
Thank you again for showing us that kindness still exists in this crazy world. = )

We've been quietly following Paxton and praying. We're so glad everything went well through the cath and that the Glenn prognosis is good. We'll read with great interest as we're still trying to get our Rudy there.

Thanks for the faithful example you set in parenting your little fighter through this battle.

I am so happy all is well. I was going to tell you how amazingly healthy little Paxton looks also. Take a deep breath and let us know when it is time to lift prayer in his name again.

Hey there... I've been checking your blog periodically, and praying for you all, ever since you were featured on the BbB site. You're right, God is good. All the time. Praying for some sweet cuddle time for you and P during this recovery, and also for the rough patches that lie ahead, for strength and for God to give the doctors wisdom as they work with P.

Today our son turns one month old!  There were days when I was still pregnant with him that we were not sure he would be alive to see this day. God, has blessed us. He is here. He is perfect. Stream Of Consciousness

I honestly didn’t realize until today why I have been the weepy mess that I have been these last few weeks. I thought I was tired.  I thought well you have five kids and lots to remember. I am prone to anxiety. I worry to much which is definitely nothing new.  I attributed the constant crying to all things other than the obvious, which after ten years one would think I would have down by now.   It’s February.   It is heart month and I don’t mean cupid.  It is real heart month.   The hearts who are sick, broken, healing, or in heaven… We honor, celebrate, recognize and weep over all things Congenital Heart Defects.  I used to be able to post a lot more about it.  I used to write a lot more about it, but I have found as time goes on that well… I don’t have a ton of time for it, but also I think I’ve been avoiding it as well… because after 10 years… words don't come to me like they used to…there is just no time line and I haven’t...

And he's off

Paxton is out of surgery and recovering. He is heavily sedated as of now, but all went well and doctors are happy with the repair. God is good! Prayers were answered. Today is a damn good, beautiful day. I will update more later. Thank you all for walking this journey beside us ! Update 8:10 am. Just got call they have made the first incision and are working through scar tissue now. He is stable and doing awesome. 7:20 am They have taken Paxton back to the OR. I will update when I know more.
